Sketchy Friends privacy policy

Sketchy Friends is social, so it needs a persistent profile — but the account is anonymous by default, and deleting it is available in-app from day one.

Last updated 29 September 2026 · Back to Sketchy Friends

This policy covers Sketchy Friends on Android, iOS. It is published by Broken Umbrella Games. For the website, see the general privacy policy.

Sketchy Friends is still in development and not yet available to download. This policy describes how the game will handle data at launch, and is published in advance so it can be read before anyone installs anything.

The short version

  • An anonymous account is created for you. You can play without giving us your name or email.
  • We do not track you across apps or websites, and we never sell data.
  • The game contains no advertising SDKs.
  • You can delete your account from inside the game at any time.

What Sketchy Friends collects

To make the social features work, the game stores the following against your account identifier:

  • Account — An anonymous account identifier created when you first play. A display name or email address is opt-in, and only used for the feature you asked for.
  • Friends — Your friends list and pending invites, so the social features work at all.
  • Player-created content — The things you draw and submit during a round, shown to the other players in that round as part of the game's normal operation.
  • Progress and entitlements — In-game currency, battle pass progress and the cosmetics you own.
  • Session data — Aggregated gameplay information used to fix bugs and balance rounds.

What it does not collect

  • Your real name, unless you choose to use it as a display name
  • Location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera
  • Advertising identifiers — the game contains no advertising SDKs
  • Any cross-app or cross-site tracking

Your account

An anonymous account is the default. You can play without handing over personal information. Adding a display name or an email address is opt-in, and each is used only to make the feature you asked for work — a display name so friends can recognise you, an email address so you can recover the account.

Content you create stays yours. The game stores it and shows it to the other players in your round because that is what the round is; it is not used for anything else.

Purchases

In-app purchases are processed entirely by the storefront — Google or Apple. We never see your payment details. We receive only confirmation that a purchase happened, so the right entitlement can be added to your account. Refunds are handled under that store's policy.

Who else is involved

The list is deliberately short. Data may be processed by:

  • Our cloud storage provider, which holds account and game data
  • The storefront you downloaded the game from (Google Play or the App Store)

Each acts as a processor on our behalf under its own security obligations. We do not share data with advertising networks or data brokers, and we do not sell, rent or trade it to anyone for any purpose.

How long it is kept

Account data is retained while the account exists. Deleting your account removes it — see below. Aggregated statistics that no longer identify anyone may be kept.

Records of purchases may be retained longer where tax and fraud-prevention law requires it. Those records sit with the storefront, not with us.

Deleting your data

In the game, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account and confirm. Deletion is processed immediately and cannot be undone.

If you would like data removed another way, the data deletion request page explains what to send and what happens next.

Children

Sketchy Friends is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will remove it.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of data relating to you. Depending on where you live these rights may come from the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR, the CCPA or an equivalent law; we honour them wherever you are.

Security

Data in transit is encrypted and access to stored data is restricted. We also reduce risk by collecting as little as possible — data never gathered cannot leak. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes are noted in the devlog rather than applied quietly.
