Stewry privacy policy

Stewry has no accounts and no ads. It stores your progress against a random identifier that is not linked to you, and uninstalling severs even that.

Last updated 29 September 2026 · Back to Stewry

This policy covers Stewry — Infinite Runner on Windows, Linux, Android. It is published by Broken Umbrella Games. For the website, see the general privacy policy.

The short version

  • There is no account and nothing to sign up for.
  • We do not track you across apps or websites, and we never sell data.
  • The game contains no advertising SDKs.
  • Uninstalling severs the link between the stored data and your device.

What Stewry collects

To carry your progress between sessions and devices, the game stores a randomly generated identifier and the following against it:

  • Progress — Floors reached, coins collected and high scores, so a run continues where you left it.
  • Settings — Your audio and control preferences, so they survive a reinstall on the same device.
  • Session data — Aggregated information about how a session went — where runs tend to end, which obstacles kill most often — used to fix bugs and balance difficulty.

That identifier is not your name, your email, your device ID or your advertising ID. It is a random value with no meaning outside the game, and nothing in this set identifies you.

What it does not collect

  • Your name, email address or any contact details
  • Location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera
  • Advertising identifiers — the game contains no advertising SDKs
  • Any cross-app or cross-site tracking

Who else is involved

The list is deliberately short. Data may be processed by:

  • Our cloud storage provider, which holds the anonymous save data
  • The storefront you downloaded the game from (Microsoft Store or itch.io)

Each acts as a processor on our behalf under its own security obligations. We do not share data with advertising networks or data brokers, and we do not sell, rent or trade it to anyone for any purpose.

How long it is kept

Save data is retained while the game is installed. Uninstalling severs the link between that data and your device, after which the remaining records cannot be traced back to you.

Records of purchases may be retained longer where tax and fraud-prevention law requires it. Those records sit with the storefront, not with us.

Deleting your data

Because Stewry has no account, uninstalling the game is the whole process — it severs the link between the saved data and your device.

If you would like data removed another way, the data deletion request page explains what to send and what happens next.

Children

Stewry is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will remove it.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of data relating to you. Depending on where you live these rights may come from the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR, the CCPA or an equivalent law; we honour them wherever you are.

One honest limitation: because Stewry stores data anonymously and deliberately does not link it to you, we often cannot tell which records are yours. That is the design working as intended, but it means an access or deletion request needs details only the player would know.

Security

Data in transit is encrypted and access to stored data is restricted. We also reduce risk by collecting as little as possible — data never gathered cannot leak. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes are noted in the devlog rather than applied quietly.
